Rh 2275 (NS) Era IV

Novelty 2021: The diesel-electric, four-axle bogie locomotives of the 2200 series of the Dutch State Railways NS shaped the time of traction change from steam to diesel locomotives in their procurement years from 1955 to 1958. Together with the 2400 series, 280 units were put into service. With their one-sided final driver's cabs and long stems, the machines embodied an American design. However, the Nazi machines were manufactured exclusively by Western European companies. The 100 km/h locomotives could not only be used in freight train and shunting service, but were also often used in front of passenger trains. Before heavy ore trains, up to four locomotives of the 900 hp engines were sometimes used in multiple traction.

Le Capitole was an express train between Paris and Toulouse in France. Introduced in 1960, it was operated by the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français (SNCF). It was also the SNCF’s first foray into high-speed commercial service above 160 km/h (99 mph).

Le Capitole began its existence as an evening first-class-only Rapide (express train) between Paris-Gare d'Austerlitz and Toulouse-Matabiau, departing in the late afternoon in both directions. In 1967, it became the first European train to be scheduled to run at 200 km/h (120 mph). In autumn 1968, a second train carrying the same name was added, operating in the morning in both directions on the route.
