USD and CAD currency

The website can process the order in USD or CAD currency. The currency selector is placed in the upper right corner on this page.

International customers can complete the shopping cart in USD and pay by PayPal. If you prefer CAD then the payment can only be by Bank Wire (EFT/ACH*). If you prefer to pay by Credit Card then select PayPal and use your credit card as the source of payment.

Canadian Customers can complete the order in either CAD or USD currency. If you select CAD then you have the options to pay by VISA, MasterCard or Interac e-Transfer. We also accept EFT/ACH*.

PayPal: You can pay by PayPal in USD funds. Please make sure to select USD as the currency in the upper-right on the website. You can can also pay by credit cards through PayPal subject to policies and limitations established by PayPal.

Visa and MasterCard credit cards are accepted in CAD funds (only) to Canadian shipping address (only). Please make sure to select CAD as your currency in the upper-right of the website.

VISA Debit or MaterCard Debit: We are unfortunately not setup to accept Debit cards through the website. However, you can pay with your Debit card personally in the store.

Interac e-Transfer is preferred. If you elect to pay by Interac e-Transfer (CAD), then do not send the funds yet. We will verify that all items are in stock and email you an invoice with payment instructions. You will also get a 1.5% credit (savings) on your order for paying by Interac e-Transfer.

Bank Wire (EFT/ACH)* (CAD only) is subject to $17.00 Bank Service Fee. In addition you will need to cover all transaction fees for sender and recipient at your end. Please consider if making the payment by PayPal is more favorable.

CASH: You can also pay by CASH (in-store) if you are picking up your order within 5 days.

Money Orders are accepted with a $17.00 surcharge to cover banking handling cost. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: The website will not automatically charge your Credit Card or PayPal account. You merely authorize the charges. We will verify that all is in stock and communicate with you in case of any variations. When all is in order we will process the payment.

Shipping to USA and US Tariffs

HobbyTech is no longer accepting orders from US customers through the website. The primary reason is that customs charges have to be calculated and prepared for you manually. The courier companies requires that tariffs, taxes and fees are collected in advance.

Please place your orders by email. We will prepare your order and forward your total cost including customs duties and shipping cost for delivery by a courier like UPS, FedEx and Purolator.

US tariff refers to the import duties and fees applied to goods entering the U.S., which vary based on the product, its country of origin, and recent policy changes. The US administration has recently eliminated its de minimis exemption for most shipments, meaning all shipments may now be subject to taxes and fees including but not limited to brokerage charges. The duties are cost to be paid by the US consumer and must in most cases be paid in advance through the carrier used to import your goods.

Tariff and broker fees are very high and it simply does not make sense for you, the US customer, to buy any products from any international dealer. Our pricing may be lower as Canada does not impose any tariffs and we will ship to you tax free. Unfortunately, the US Administration will tax you per the US tariff regime, and you will also pay at least $40 in broker fees in addition to shipping charges by your shipping carrier.

Shipping Policy

We ship world wide with Canada Post* at cost + $4 Handling Charge . Courier service is also available within Canada.

We do NOT offer Free Shipping. Pick-Up in store is defined as a shipping option and is of course at no charge. As this is the lowest cost option it is also the default by the website. Hence you may see Free Shipping during check-out till you have chosen your shipping option. Shipping by Canada Post or a courier service will always be at a charge.

Confirmed Address: We will only ship to confirmed/verified addresses. Your PayPal address needs to be verified. The address of your credit card must match your shipping address. We can ship to an alternate address subject to verification. There are no ship-to address limitations if your order is paid by Interac e-Transfer.

We ship FOB Origin: The buyer (customer) assumes full responsibility of the goods once it has been picked up by the carrier.

Insurance: Up to 100 CAD (about $70 USD) coverage is included with the shipping. Any shortfall in the event of a loss or damage to your parcel is deemed to be self-insured by you, the recipient. Additional coverage may be available at a cost of $2.80 CAD ($2.00 USD) per increment of $100 CAD (about $70 USD). Please let us know that you would like to add insurance and we will add if available on your shipping option before charges are processed.

We pack well to protect your items during transit. Should you want extra padding just let us know. Keep in mind, that will increase the parcel volume and with that also your cost.

*Some countries are excluded by our website as Canada Post with its international partners only offer limited shipping options. However, you may order by email and we will process your order manually. Keep in mind that shipping might be expensive.

ALL SALES ARE FINAL

We do not take any item back for a refund or exchange for any reason whatsoever. However, we may consider to buy back your surplus item. The discount will depend on the item and condition. Please email us to negotiate.

WARRANTY

All warranty claims rest with the respective manufacturer and are subject to its terms and conditions accordingly. Please visit the manufacturer website for details and procedures regarding your claim. HobbyTech do not offer a supplemental warranty program. Nor is HobbyTech, or any other dealer, authorized to act on behalf of the manufacturer. However, on your request, HobbyTech is happy to assist and can help coordinate and facilitate your warranty claim. You can therefore either contact the manufacturer directly or ask HobbyTech for assistance. You may do so by email providing all relevant details regarding your item, symptoms and defects observed. We will then contact the manufacturer on your behalf and coordinate the warranty claim. You may be asked to ship your item to them or to HobbyTech at your cost. Return shipping is likely covered by the manufacturer. HobbyTech will and cannot assume any liability regarding your warranty item.

Errors and Omissions

It is inevitable that mistakes can happen even though we are making the best effort to provide accurate and relevant information herein. You may need to verify with the manufacturer official website to ensure yourself that you in fact are making the purchase of the item intended and the specifications are as expected. Accordingly, we will not take an item back due to but not limited to incorrect item number, incorrect road number or incorrect item description. Should you be in doubt or have discovered  that our information is inconsistent with the manufacturer we welcome your feedback. HobbyTech will not be held liable for any loss due to errors or omissions on this website.

Pricing Errors

HobbyTech reserves the right to correct pricing before finalizing the sale due to but not limited to price increase by the manufacturer or supplier, currency exchange variations or increase in logistical cost like shipping and handling. Should an error be discovered after the sale is finalized we do expect that you will make good on any shortfall we can document or return the item to us. Examples of this could be that we did charge you for a DC model while you did get a DCC/sound unit, we did not charge applicable tax or charged you incorrectly for shipping. Likewise, HobbyTech will refund any overcharge due to our error.
