Thrall 2743 Gondola

The Thrall Car 2743 cubic foot gondola was introduced in 1995. This new 52' 6" interior length design was in response to the newly allowed increase in Gross Rail Loading (GRL) to 286,000 lbs (up from 263,000 lbs). This allowed an increase of the inside height from the previously standard 5'0" to a new standard of 5'6", giving it a 2,743 cubic foot capacity. Thrall produced over 6,700 of these from 1995 to 1999. The design resumed production under Trinityrail in 2005.

Built starting in late 2003, the prototypes for the Atlas HO Scale TrinityRail(R) 64' Modern Reefer was designed to replace aging reefers. Large enough to fit the equivalent of four 53' truck trailer contents, these excess-height refrigerated boxcars have given new life to the once flourishing refrigerated movement of perishable goods.

The 17,600 Gallon Corn Syrup Tank Car was built in large numbers by Trinity Industries between 1984 and 1998. The Pressureaide hopper has a similar design as the ACF 4650 but with one major difference being various pipes running underneath the car. 15psi is applied to the inside of the piping to help with unloading. These cars debuted in the late 1970s and were built until the 1990s. Pressureaide hopper cars ended up phasing out its predecessor, the Airslide hopper car. They are still commonly seen in service in the modern day.

Five pieces of track make up one-quarter (90 degrees) of a 71" diameter circle (a full circle is 360 degrees). In general, 35.5" Radius Curved Track is best used to make wide, sweeping railroad curves to accommodate longer locomotives and rolling stock, and permit mainline operation at higher speeds. It can be placed on the outside of 33.25" radius curved track for excellent double-track mainline realism, and it can also be used to quickly lay track on a behind-the-scenes helix.
