Add detail to your steam locomotive servicing facility with the Walthers Cornerstone Steel Water Tank. A must-have for any steam-era N Scale layout, equipment like this could be found in terminals large and small. Water was vital to railroad operations in the days of steam. Thousands of gallons were needed to keep the engines hot and the railroad running. As locomotives grew bigger, older tanks were unable to meet demand. When steel plate became cheap enough to use as a building material in the 1920s, railroads began replacing decaying wooden towers with all-steel designs.

The Cornerstone Through Plate-Girder Bridge kit is based on one of the most common North American railroad designs, typically used to cross short distances, and as approach spans for longer obstacles. In service for for decades, they're constructed of steel sections riveted together to form girders, and are known as through types as the track passes between, rather than on top of the spans.

Based on a typical two-track design, the Walthers Cornerstone Wood Coaling Tower will be a focal point in any engine terminal. Towers like this were built in yards at servicing facilities as well as along the mainlines and branchlines to refuel engines on the road. This easy-to-build plastic model features a realistic coal bunker plus detailed chutes and mechanisms. A hopper unloading shed sits along one side for receiving coal.

Based on typical early 20th Century industrial buildings the Walthers Cornerstone Union Crane and Shovel Co. is an easy-to-build kit that will add realism to older industrial areas on your layout. The building features a railcar door and grooves in the base to accept Code 80 rail.
