Description

The train configuration provides for various modular units of five-part to 14-part trains. Thanks to this concept, the train can be easily adapted to the individual specifications of the transport companies for the desired acceleration, speed and number of seats. Db has so far ordered 85 twelve- and 45 seven-car multiple units as the basic configuration, which consist of driveless end or control cars, driven seat cars and on-board bistro as well as non-driven seat, dining and service cars. The seven-car multiple-unit train has three powered cars and offers 456 seats over a length of 200 meters. A twelve-car multiple unit has six powered cars and 830 seats over a length of 346 meters. The top speed is 250 km/h. The outer shape was based on the existing ICE fleet and further developed. Since December 2017, the first trains have been in regular operation on the Hamburg–Würzburg, Stuttgart–Munich and Hamburg–Berlin–Munich lines.
