This Walthers Cornerstone HO Scale Double-Track Arched Pratt Truss Railroad Bridge kit is based on standard-design single-track steel bridges constructed to handle heavier trains on railroads from coast to coast. It's part of the Cornerstone Engineered Bridge System and is designed to be compatible with system abutments and bridge piers. This detailed model matches NMRA overhead clearances and will clear tall cars such as double-stack container cars and tall auto racks.

During the steam era, many of these businesses received machinery by rail in boxcars or on flatcars; the pieces were usually unloaded at a nearby trackside ramp. In the modern era, as urban areas crept further outward, these buildings found new occupants like auto dealers, mechanics, garden centers and more, in distinctly suburban areas.

Skoal! Prost! Salut! No matter how you say it, the handsome Walthers Cornerstone HO Scale Milwaukee Beer and Ale Brewery building will be the toast of your railroad. Many started as small, local suppliers, eventually growing into huge operations, thanks to the railroads. In every era, these facilities require an amazing variety of freight cars. Boxcars and hoppers bring in grains and malt, as well as empty barrels, bottles, bottle caps or cans. Hoppers haul in coal and one or two may depart with loads of broken glass. Gondolas haul scrap aluminum. Tank cars arrive with natural gas, or corn syrup, while others carry beer in bulk. Insulated boxcars and reefers bring in hops, then haul the finished products to market.

Several ideas were suggested, but in the end, railroads became the primary means of transport. Coal soon represented a considerable part of the traffic on many lines.

In response to a growing shortage of suitable boxcars, railroads big and small began updating and expanding with fleets of larger 50' American Car & Foundry Exterior Post Plate B Boxcars. Introduced in 1971, these earlier versions of the car featured the popular Dreadnaught end, and would remain in general freight service for years afterward.
