The Märklin 29506 is a HO-scale starter set produced in 1996. It features a BR 24 steam locomotive used in both passenger trains and light freight trains. The set contains 5 freight cars, and several of them are still produced and available new today.

Locomotive is converted with 60760 conversion set for conventional AC analog or Digital mode operations.

The set has no controller. You can either use a conventional AC controller or a digital controller like the Mobile Station

Description

This set is for collectors or anyone that want to operate Märklin as it was up to the 90's. The set comes with C-track which is used today and considered to be the very best track system in the market today.

The set does not have a controller or power pack. You can use a 2nd hand analog AC controller or a digital controller like the 6021 or a Mobile station. Or, you can get a new controller, conventional AC or digital. See the links below.

The locomotive in this set was manufactured in the 1000s and is extremely reliable and only require basic maintenance like cleaning, lubrication, and spare parts like motor brushes and the slider (pick-up show) depending on the usage.

NOTE: The C-track is from the early production runs and are more brittle than what has been manufactured since then. This has been taken into account when pricing this set.

60760 Digital High Efficiency Propulsion Set.: The locomotive has been upgraded with this set which comes with a controlled digital decoder and a powerful motor (conversion kit). The decoder has 80 programmable addresses, automatic switching between the modes of operation (analog AC or digital), a load compensation feature, and a digitally controlled connection for headlights / marker lights that change over with the direction of travel. The acceleration and braking delay can be controlled with a 6021 Control Unit or with Märklin Digital like to Mobile Station. The motor has a 5-pole armature, a powerful permanent magnet field, and a pre-installed bearing plate.
